A long time has lapsed since our last post but we have been exploring the great area of Mossel Bay. We are currently parked at Riverside Resort in Little Brak River and enjoying it immensely.

This is a beautiful place, with big sites and on a river with lots of fish! Everything works here, with chalets at reasonable rates for visitors, plenty for the kids to do and reasonable rates for pensioners. Of course, being our first time here, we have got to know all the local haunts and have found Mossel Bay to be very interesting and extremely pleasant. Lots of history, clean and reasonable eating places, good shopping, the cheapest diesel in SA and caravan parks to suit all tastes.

The beaches are immaculate and fishing excellent but BEWARE. This is out of season now, but In December/January this place is chaos! This is a premier holiday destination both for camping and B & B or holiday home. Within spitting distance from George, Oudtshoorn, Calitzdorp and Stilbaai, there is plenty do do. We enjoy the temperate climate and the friendly people. The impression one gets from driving past on the N2 is not great. Mossel Bay looks like one huge industrial town. But enter and see some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, the well maintained gardens and historical buildings.

We are back at Wilderness in April some time but will be coming back here. Give it a try. For on the beach caravanning, you have the POINT caravan park and DE BAKKE ( which is only open in season) are both Municipal parks but are very popular and fairly well maintained. ATKV HARTENBOS is enormous and is simply a resort 'city' and there you are spoil't for choice. But we love the quiet of Riverside and kayaking up and down the river to the beaches. So, Happy Easter all and Happy camping.
